Why We Started This Blog

When we built Subflow, we had one goal: make captioning inside After Effects fast enough that you'd actually enjoy the process. No exports to CapCut. No copy-pasting timecodes. Just open the panel, click once, and your captions are there — synced, styled, ready.

But we quickly realised that building the tool was only half the work. The other half is helping people actually use it well. That's why this blog exists.

Here's what you can expect to find here.

Tutorials & Workflow Guides

After Effects has a steep learning curve, and captioning inside it even more so. We'll publish step-by-step guides covering everything from:

  • Setting up Subflow for the first time — from installation to your first AI-generated caption layer
  • Working with long-form content — interviews, podcasts, webinars — how to handle them without losing your mind
  • Styling captions to match your brand — custom fonts, animated reveals, lower thirds
  • Multi-language projects — how to use Subflow's 51-language support to localise video content efficiently

These won't be vague overviews. They'll be practical, specific, and written by someone who actually edits video.

Product Updates

Every time we ship something new — whether it's a new caption mode, a language addition, or a performance improvement — you'll read about it here first.

We believe in being transparent about what we're building and why. So each update post will include not just what changed, but why we changed it and what problems it solves.

After Effects Tips (Beyond Captions)

Subflow lives inside After Effects, and we spend a lot of time inside that application ourselves. Along the way we've picked up workflows, shortcuts, and tricks that have nothing to do with captioning but everything to do with moving faster.

We'll share those here too. Think of it as bonus content — useful stuff from people who take AE seriously.

How to Follow Along

You don't need to do anything special. Just bookmark subflow.cc/blog and check back whenever you're looking for something. We'll publish new posts regularly, and every post is designed to be worth your time — not just SEO filler.

If there's something specific you'd like us to cover — a workflow problem, a question about Subflow, a feature you'd love to see explained — email us at [email protected]. We read everything.

One More Thing

If you haven't tried Subflow yet, the install guide takes about three minutes. The plugin works on Mac and Windows, inside After Effects CC 2022 and newer.

Welcome to the blog. We're glad you're here.
